Manufacturing
Odoo on the shop floor. Off the spreadsheets.
Discrete and process manufacturers running Odoo for BoMs, work orders, MRP, quality, maintenance, and the finance that has to reconcile to all of it. Configured to your routing reality, not to a generic textbook.
Processes
What we configure for Manufacturing.
Configure the standard product first; customise only when standard truly cannot.
-
01
BoM and routing
Multi-level bills of material with versions, alternatives, and effective dates. Routings tied to work centres, capacities, and cost roll-ups your accountants can audit.
-
02
Work orders
Job tickets generated from manufacturing orders, dispatched to the floor on tablets or printed travellers, with start, pause, scrap, and complete logged at the source.
-
03
MRP and scheduling
Procurement and production planning driven by sales orders, stock minimums, and finite capacity. Reorder rules, kanban, make-to-order, make-to-stock, configured to your mix.
-
04
Quality and traceability
Inspection points, control plans, non-conformance reports, batch and serial traceability, end to end. The audit trail your customers and your regulators expect.
-
05
Maintenance
Preventive maintenance schedules tied to runtime or calendar, work orders for breakdowns, spare-parts inventory linked to your MRP.
Pain, addressed
Where Manufacturing clients usually start.
-
01 · The pain
BoM revisions live in spreadsheets, the floor builds yesterday's version.
Our answer
Versioned BoMs in Odoo, with effective dates, propagated to active work orders only. The floor sees the version active for that order, not the wiki.
-
02 · The pain
Production schedule drifts because procurement does not see the same plan.
Our answer
A single MRP run drives both procurement and production. Buyer and planner work from the same demand signal. Variance reports show where reality diverged.
-
03 · The pain
Finance closes a month later than it should because cost roll-ups are manual.
Our answer
Standard or actual costing in Odoo with automated WIP, scrap, and finished-goods journals. Period close in days, not weeks.
-
04 · The pain
Customer asks for batch traceability, the answer takes three people half a day.
Our answer
Lot and serial tracking from raw to finished. One report from one screen.

Frequently asked
Questions about Manufacturing.
Does Odoo handle process manufacturing as well as discrete? +
Yes, both. We configure recipes, yields, by-products and co-products for process manufacturers, and BoMs with operations and routings for discrete manufacturers. The same Odoo, configured differently.
Can Odoo integrate with shop-floor PLCs or IoT devices? +
Yes. Most clients integrate scales, label printers, and barcode scanners directly. PLC and OPC-UA integrations are an Integration project; we have shipped enough of them to scope cleanly.
How does Odoo MRP compare to a dedicated APS like Asprova or Preactor? +
Dedicated APS systems are still ahead for highly-constrained finite scheduling at scale. For 80% of mid-market manufacturers Odoo MRP is enough; for the other 20% we integrate Odoo as the system of record with a dedicated APS as the planner.
What about shop-floor data collection in poor-network environments? +
Odoo POS is offline-capable and the same pattern works for shop-floor terminals. Local cache with eventual sync; we have shipped this for sites with intermittent connectivity.
