Logistics
Cargo moves. So does the paperwork.
Freight forwarders, third-party logistics providers, customs brokers, and transport operators running Odoo for shipment tracking, customs documentation, multi-leg billing, and the carrier integrations the customer never sees.
Processes
What we configure for Logistics.
Configure the standard product first; customise only when standard truly cannot.
-
01
Shipment lifecycle
Quote, booking, pick-up, freight leg, customs, delivery, proof-of-delivery. Each event status-tracked, time-stamped, customer-visible.
-
02
Customs documentation
Commercial invoice, packing list, declaration, certificate of origin, dangerous-goods documentation, generated from the shipment record once and reused.
-
03
Multi-leg billing
Origin charges, freight, customs duties, delivery, accessorials, all on a single shipment, billable to a single customer or split across parties.
-
04
Carrier integrations
Rate request, label generation, manifest, tracking, proof-of-delivery to the major carriers and 3PL partners. The customer sees one tracking experience, not four.
-
05
3PL warehousing
Goods received, stored, picked, packed, shipped on behalf of multiple clients, billed by activity. Storage charges accrued, billed monthly.
Pain, addressed
Where Logistics clients usually start.
-
01 · The pain
Shipment status updates are emailed, sometimes.
Our answer
Customer portal with real-time status. Customer sees the shipment at every leg, with documents downloadable. Phone calls to operations drop materially.
-
02 · The pain
Customs documents are recreated each shipment.
Our answer
Document templates pulled from shipment data once. The packing list, the commercial invoice, the certificate of origin: generated, not retyped.
-
03 · The pain
Accessorial charges are forgotten until invoicing.
Our answer
Accessorial events captured at the operational stage, automatically appearing on the invoice. Demurrage, detention, weekend delivery: nothing missed.
-
04 · The pain
Carrier rates change and the manual rate sheet is out of date.
Our answer
Carrier rate cards uploaded to Odoo, applied to bookings automatically, refreshed via integration where the carrier supports it.

Frequently asked
Questions about Logistics.
Can Odoo replace CargoWise? +
For mid-market freight forwarders and 3PLs, yes, with configuration. For the largest operators with deep CargoWise process maturity, integration is more practical than replacement. We will tell you which side of that line you fall on after a discovery call.
How do you handle dangerous goods? +
DG configuration on the product, classification, packing-instructions templates, IATA and IMDG documentation, and the validation that prevents a non-DG-trained operator from booking the shipment.
What about real-time vehicle tracking? +
Telematics integration is a standard Integration project. We have shipped Geotab, Verizon Connect, and bespoke OBD-II integrations into Odoo for fleet visibility.
Can the customer book shipments through Odoo? +
Yes. Customer portal with rate request, booking, document upload, status visibility. The repeatable bookings move out of the operations inbox; operations focuses on the exceptions.
